Vergessen

symphoniaASSAI highlights the extraordinary story of four compositions by the classical masters Mozart, Beethoven, and Mendelssohn, which disappeared from view over the course of history and whose existence was even forgotten... Until, long afterwards, they reappeared out of nowhere, somewhere many hundreds of kilometers away in Europe.

Transcendence

Transcendence highlights three masterpieces from the oeuvre of Mozart and Schumann that were written during the last years of their lives.

symphoniaASSAI explores the state of mind of these masters in the final phase of their lives. What was going through their minds when they put these notes on paper?

Were they aware of how little time they had left?

Visions

Music by Belgian composers Rafaël D’Haene and Wouter Lenaerts. Two modern compositions with roots stretching far back into European musical tradition.

Two works that are connected: they were both written in the period 2005-2006 and showcase the work of a master versus his then student of composition.

Nordiske Lyder

Although music from Scandinavia is in line with the musical traditions elsewhere in Europe, it is at the same time imbued with its own folk culture, breathing the width of the Nordic landscape.

With Nordiske lyder symphoniaASSAI unites some wonderful Nordic compositions from the 19th and 20th century together in a beautiful programme for string orchestra.

Bach meets Pärt

'Bach is the beginning and end of all music'

Max Reger

Transcendent, spiritual, otherworldly and soothing are words that jump to mind when describing Part’s accessible music. We could use the same terms while speaking of Johann Sebastian Bach’s works.

With this program symphoniaASSAI presents works that were written in different centuries, but that share a fascinating resemblance in philosophy, inspiration and aesthetics. The union of Johann Sebastian Bach’s and Arvo Pärt’s universes offers a great performance opportunity where interiority and virtuosity come together.

Feuilles d'Automne
