symphoniaAssai
symphoniaASSAI is telling the remarkable story of four compositions by the classical masters Mozart, Beethoven and Mendelssohn, which disappeared from radar throughout history and whose existence even had been forgotten... Until they resurfaced many years later, hundreds of kilometers away.
As soloist we're welcoming Karel Schoofs, solo oboe at the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and professor at the Conservatoria of Brussels and The Hague.
program
Wolfgang Amadeus MOZART | Symphony 'Odense' (1779)
Wolfgang Amadeus MOZART | Concerto for oboe and orchestra (1777)
Ludwig van BEETHOVEN | Concerto for oboe and orchestra (1793)

In The English connection, symphoniaASSAI explores the English musical identity and the historical connections between the work of the composers Edward Elgar (1857-1934), Ralph Vaughan Williams (1872-1958) and Benjamin Britten (1913-1976).
Three composers in search of their own English idiom, a national music language that is inextricably linked to folk culture and the rolling landscapes that surrounded them.
Three musical heirs of Henry Purcell (1659-1695), considered by many to be the best English composer of all time, and would mean an indelible influence on their later works and for which they all had a huge admiration.
Al soloists we're welcoming Gilles Van der Linden (tenor) and Emma Van den Ecker (horn).
program
Ralph VAUGHAN WILLIAMS | Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis
Benjamin BRITTEN | Serenade for tenor, horn, and strings
Edward ELGAR | Sospiri
Edward ELGAR | Serenade for Strings
Benjamin BRITTEN | Simple Symphony
